SIGNAL

Since victims are often unable to seek help and/or justice, Traffick Jam Live has launched a compelling program to create and popularize an easily recognizable “hand gesture/signal” for girls to safely deliver while in fear of being sex trafficked. The signal indicates that an individual is either a current victim of sex trafficking or is in danger of being trafficked and needs immediate help. When unable to call, text or say anything without risk of retaliation, this hand signal will alert trained eyes that the girl is seeking help and to call the national hotline for the next steps. The hand signal provides an “all-new” exit strategy option.  The girl’s prevention and protection from further victimization begin immediately. We know traffickers will clearly be aware of the “Eyes 4 U” hand signal too.  This foreknowledge provides an additional and powerful deterrent to some traffickers, fearful of being caught.  The national awareness of the protective hand signal quickly impacts and reduces the “forced” control the child sex trafficker has over their victim.

The “Eyes 4 U” hand signal is meant to be a simple but recognizable gesture that when spotted at human trafficking hot spots like hotels, truck stops, airports, airplanes, mass transportation hubs, and tens of thousands of public spaces with monitored security cameras, has the potential to save lives. It is an incredible opportunity to disrupt human trafficking as it is happening in real-time. This is unique, nothing like the “Eyes 4 U” hand signal has ever been nationally implemented within the anti-sex trafficking space here in the U.S. Click here to view a draft, for concept purposes only, of a proposed “Eyes 4 U” PSA campaign video.

Additional strategic initiatives relative to the “Eyes 4 U” campaign are coordinated through the ii4u.org website including the following:

  • Create a variety of impact messaging content including shared social media posts, PSA videos, indoor and outdoor billboards, online advertisements, comic books, and the like. Messaging that builds national recognition of the “Eyes 4 U” hand signal.

  • A focus group of the top ATOs in the U.S. to discuss and evaluate the potential inclusion of “accessible” RFID  geolocation tags and their disbursement strategies.

  • Training and educational curriculum easily accessible on the ii4u.org website and promoted over social media distribution channels like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, and, yes, even.TikTok. Visibility on these social media platforms clearly reaches girls but also trained professional employees where sex trafficking often intersects.

  • Leverage Traffick Jam Live’s weekly NEWS broadcasts to feature and promote the “Eyes 4 U” national campaign to 100+ ATOs and anti-sex trafficking allies and advocates.
